Athens State Writing Blog


On the Athens State Writing Blog, we accept submission that address communication, writing and rhetoric for the benefit of today’s college students. If you have something to say about these topics, please consider sharing your writing with us! We encourage submissions from university students and faculty; we also encourage submissions from Athens State alumni and members of the local communities in the North Alabama region.

Potential submissions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Essays
  • Research
  • Opinion pieces
  • Reflections
  • Creative writing

Minimum Submission length: None
Maximum Submission length: 5,000 words

Format: Research sources used must be consistently cited and formatted according to a recognizable citation style. All academic citation styles are accepted.

All submissions should address the core themes of communication, writing and rhetoric. Submissions must also support the mission of Athens State University.

The Athens State University Writing Center is located on the first floor of the library--in the new learning commons area! The Writing Center's mission is to serve Athens State students as writers, both in-person and online.
